2nd Annual Silly Olympics, hosted by Georgian Court University, Raises $550 for Make-A-Wish

NEW HAVEN, CT - Georgian Court University hosted the second annual Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Silly Olympics on Sunday, Sept. 20, and with the help of beautiful weather, the event was a success. A total of 120 student-athletes participated in the event, which was organized by the CACC Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).

The Silly Olympics is a social event/competition created by the CACC SAAC to promote positive relationships among the student-athletes at member institutions as well as commence conference-wide fund raising efforts for the Make-A-Wish foundation.  The event raised $550 for Make-A-Wish and student-athletes from 13 CACC schools were able to get together off the field of play and socialize.

The 120 student- athletes were divided into 12 teams and competed in a variety of events including dodge ball and tug-of-war. The winning team was composed of GCU softball player Courtney Cuevas, Barbara Almeida of Post University cross country, Philip Brooks of Goldey-Beacom College men's basketball, Bloomfield College baseball player Kevin Baumiller, Liz Case of Wilmington University women's soccer, Alisha Smith of Nyack College women's soccer, Chelsea Aronica of Dominican College women's basketball, Josh Getka of Caldwell College men's tennis and men's lacrosse player Jake Reynolds of Chestnut Hill College.
