NEW HAVEN, CT- The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference announced its All-CACC Lacrosse Team this afternoon. Ten different Georgian Court University student-athletes earned selection to this elite list while head coach Michael Migliorisi has been named CACC Coach of the Year.
An unprecedented six GCU representatives earned First-Team honors, including seniors
Natalie Bermudez,
Angelica Gero,
Laura Housel and
Christine Latteri and juniors
Lauren Conaty and
Ryan McGrath. For Bermudez, Gero, Conaty and McGrath, 2010 marks their second straight season as first-teamers.
Latteri, the CACC's winningest goalkeeper, graduates from a '09 Honorable Mention to this year's top squad. "Latt" has compiled a 15-2 mark in 2010, while owning the second-best save percentage (.586) in the entire nation.
Bermudez, in a season loaded with emotional highs and lows, collected 35 goals in 15 games, while leading the Lions with 42 groundballs and 29 draw controls. She also earned CACC Player of the Week honors for the week ending April 19th.
Conaty, McGrath and Housel played an integral role in the GCU offensive attack, scoring 44, 37 and 27 goals, respectively. McGrath also garnered a team-high 22 assists.
Gero, the last point of defense for the Lions, led a squad that permitted a conference-low 6.19 goals-per-game.
Receiving accolades on the CACC Second Team were seniors
Jennifer Cittadino and
Kara Sanford and junior
Daryl Carr. All three were honored in '09 with Sanford and Carr appearing on the second team and Cittadino receiving Honorable Mention.
Alley Abbate, after earning second-team accolades in 2009 as a middie, received Honorable Mention this year after playing a majority of the season as a defender.
Georgian Court, along with Post University, also earned praise with the CACC Team Sportsmanship Award.
Coach Migliorisi (pictured) has been at the helm since the debut of Georgian Court lacrosse back in March of 2007. His program, winner of 52 games over those four seasons and owner of an undefeated, 22-0 regular-season record vs. CACC opponents, will serve as the #1 seed (for the second straight year) in this weekend's CACC Championship Tournament.
The #1 Lions will host #4 Philadelphia University at 1:00PM after which #2 Holy Family University will take on #3 Wilmington University. All games will be played at Georgian Court.
