Lions Get Date to the Regional Dance as #8 Seed ... Take on #1 New Haven on Friday

LAKEWOOD, NJ- The Lions are in! After last week's impressive 5-2 run to the final game of the CACC Championship Tournament, the Georgian Court University (38-17) softball squad has qualified for the 2010 NCAA Division II Softball East Regional as the #8 seed.

GCU will travel to Connecticut for a Friday match-up vs. the top-seed and host, University of New Haven (38-6). Georgian Court will be facing UNH for the second straight season as the Lions defeated the Chargers twice in the 2009 Division II East 2 Region, earning the opportunity to advance to last year's Super Regionals at LeMoyne College.

Joining New Haven and GCU in the Nutmeg State will be #3 Southern CT State University (40-11) and CACC-foe, #4 Caldwell College (42-14). The Lions split a doubleheader with the Owls on March 20 in Lakewood, while also defeating SSCU in last year's East 2 Region. Georgian Court split a home double-dip with the Cougars on April 15 before eliminating Caldwell, 7-6, in Saturday's CACC tournament semifinal contest.

Georgian Court is making its fourth consecutive NCAA tournament appearance.
