Georgian Court Stretches Win-Streak to Three Straight As Lions Escape Alderson Broaddus, 11-9

Philippi, W.V. - For the first time in its three-year history, the Georgian Court University men's lacrosse squad owns a three-game winning streak as the Lions, playing the final leg of its two-game trip to the Mountain State, defeated host-Alderson Broaddus University by an 11-9 count Thursday afternoon.

GCU (3-2) appeared to not be all too concerned with the snow-covered playing field, as the Lions posted an immediate 7-0 surplus, capped by a Peter Rinaldi goal at the 5:06 mark of the second period.

Alderson Broaddus (0-2) found the back of the net for the first time with 1:52 left before intermission, and tallied two more goals to start the third, cutting the deficit to 7-3 with 7:50 left in the frame. Georgian Court promptly answered with three straight goals of their own to increase its lead to a commanding 10-3 margin at 2:18 of the same period.

The Battlers proved they were aptly named as the home team indeed "battled" to the very end, netting six of the contest's final seven scores, coming to within just two of tying the eventual victors before time expired.

Georgian Court shared the offensive wealth with nine different Lions collecting goals. Patrick Quinn and Michael Saladino led the charge with two apiece. Brandon Razler provided a goal and team-best three assists.

Austin Geissel earned his third win of the season in goal for GCU, registering six saves in the complete-game effort.

The Lions head back home and return to the field next Thursday, March 15 with a 3:30 p.m. contest vs. Saint Michael's College.
