Welcome to the Pride!
What is SAAC?
The Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, or SAAC, is a group of current student-athletes who are the forefront leaders of their team. These members wish to be actively involved in the collegiate athletic administration process. Each student-athlete serves a vital role as they are the voice and decision makers who relay important institutional policies back to their own teams. Each team is granted representative seats based on the size of their team. An Executive Board serves as the committee's guidance and is composed of a President, Vice President, Secretary, Conference Liaison, as well as an SGA (Student Government Association) Liaison. One to two coaches and/or administrators will serve as SAAC Advisors and may offer insight and advice pertaining to the way SAAC is run. In accordance with the Mercy Core Values, SAAC is also an active participant in the community. SAAC takes great pride in giving back to our local community and inspiring young athletes to work hard and dream big.
Mission Statement
The mission of Georgian Court Universities SAAC is to enhance the total student-athlete experience by promoting opportunities for all student-athletes. Through leadership development, community service and student-athlete welfare, we will foster a positive student-athlete image on our campus and in our community.
A Message From the President
The Student Athlete Advisory Committee is based on the principle of servant leadership with an emphasis on building our athletic department and taking it to a higher level. Being servant leaders comes with commitment and a willingness to always be a helping hand. We understand that we will not accomplish our goal overnight but by utilizing the abilities we’ve developed by helping our fellow student-athletes, building a support system, and continuing to mold a championship culture within our teams we will surely get the job done. Being a part of SAAC gives the student-athletes a voice on behalf of themselves and their teams and it also gives them the opportunity to enhance their leadership skills. I commend every student-athlete for applying to take on this role and it is my duty as President to develop these leaders so that we can make a difference. While reaching for this goal the committee will continue to bridge the gap between student-athletes and students as well. I believe that by building this relationship we can contribute to the betterment of GCU as a whole. The tasks set before us won’t be easy, but I am committed to empowering our committee and others to reach this goal because alone we can do so little but together, we can do so much!
