Waterbury, Conn. - The Georgian Court University women's lacrosse squad continues to do what they do ... win. The Lions coasted to 8-0 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) competition Wednesday afternoon with a 17-4 road victory at Post University behind an 11-1 first half.
GCU (10-6 overall) opened the contest with a 7-0 run, capped by a
Taylor Bauerband tally at the 16:37 mark. After Post (2-14, 1-7 CACC) popped in a goal at 15:48, the Lions sprinted on a 9-0 spurt to take an overwhelming 16-1 advantage with 11:46 remaining in regulation.
Three Lions registered hat tricks in the triumph, including
Nicole Barbella,
Samantha Fernandez and
Xena Valenzuela. Barbella, the conference's assist leader, dished three helpers in the win for six total points. A pair of Fernandez feeds set up two GCU goals.
Amber Neumann improved to 10-6 in the Georgian Court net with three saves over 40:06.
Georgian Court returns home this Sunday to conclude the 2018 regular season with a 12:00 p.m. conference contest vs. Holy Family University. The Lions will honor Bauerband,
Tiffani Kipila, and Valenzuela in a special pregame Senior Day celebration.
