Atchison Unloads for 24 Points in Lions' Non-Conference Road Contest at Kutztown

Kutztown, Pa. - Jada Atchison's 24 points highlighted an otherwise difficult afternoon for Georgian Court University as the Lions suffered an 89-70 non-conference defeat Saturday at Kutztown University.

The setback marks GCU's sixth-straight as the road team slides to 1-6 on the season. The Golden Bears climb to a game over the .500 mark (5-4) with the home victory.

Kutztown owned the lead throughout the contest, registering a 22-14 advantage after the first quarter and a 49-32 surplus heading into intermission. A successful three-pointer from Karen Lapkiewicz (Sr.-Southampton, Pa.) with 5:33 remaining in the third provided the Golden Bears a game-high 25-point lead of 64-39.

The Lions outscored its host by a margin of 16-14 in the fourth-and-final period, but it would not be nearly enough output for the road team on this day.

Four members of the victors netted double-digits in scoring, topped by Casey Remolde (Philadelphia, Pa.) with her game-high effort of 26 points. The 6'0" freshman went 6-for-11 from the floor while hitting a perfect 12-for-12 from the charity stripe.

Atchison's performance provided the GCU graduate student her fourth game of 20 or more points this season. The Burlington, N.J. native hit 9-of-22 from the field while connecting on four three-pointers. Leighanna Lister, playing in her hometown for the first time as a collegian, registered seven points and eight rebounds for the Lions.

Nerea Brajac collected a balanced effort of nine points, five steals, four boards and three assists in the setback.

Georgian Court returns to CACC conference play Thursday evening with a 6:00 p.m. showdown vs. Jefferson. The Lions stunned the then-#8 Lady Rams, 74-73, in buzzer-beater fashion last Feb. 19 in the program's last meeting.
