Philadelphia, Pa. - First-place Holy Family University continues to roll as the Tigers improved to a perfect 8-0 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) women's basketball action with Wednesday night's 67-58 home win over visiting Georgian Court University.
Aside from an initial three-point deficit to start the contest, and a 21-21 stalemate with 7:26 to go in the second quarter, HFU owned the advantage the entire way. The Tigers closed out the first half with a 30-23 surplus. The lead inflated to a game-high 12 points when a
Moe Moore (Fr.-Philadelphia, Pa.) jumper put the home team up, 55-43, with 5:18 remaining in regulation.
The Lions netted 25-of-53 attempts from the field (47.2%), but turnovers continue to hamper GCU as 21 miscues by the visitors resulted in 17 Holy Family points.
Four Tigers collected double-digit scoring efforts, highlighted by
Elizabeth Radley (Sr.-Hainesport, N.J.) and her 19 points. Moore followed with 14 points while
Casey Schweitzer (Sr.-Lagrangeville, N.Y.) and
Mia Ehling (Gr.-Linden, N.J.) poured in 12 and 10 points, respectively.
Safiyyah Lee shot 7-for-11 from the floor for Georgian Court, resulting in a team-best 16 points over her 27 minutes.
Ivona Krakic drained 12 points for the Lions while tallying game-highs with eight boards and four blocks.
Savawn Hughes added 11 points for the road team.
Georgian Court (4-10, 2-5 CACC) returns home this Saturday for a 12:00 p.m. conference showdown vs. Concordia College (3-13, 2-5 CACC).
