Fourth-Straight CACC Crown for Georgian Court as Lions Hold Off Jefferson, 15-10, in 2021 Title Game

Lakewood, N.J. - Georgian Court University claimed its fourth consecutive Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference crown (and sixth overall) as the top-seeded Lions held off #2Jefferson, 15-10 Sunday in the CACC Women's Lacrosse Championship Tournament title game.

Georgian Court, the first and only team in CACC women's lacrosse history to win four-straight banners, closes the year riding an eight-game winning streak while winning 42 games in a row vs. CACC foes (including postseason). Jefferson ends the campaign with an 11-3 mark.

Having defeated the #2-seed Rams by a 15-5 score in their only regular-season meeting back on April 28, and owning a mighty 11-2 lead with 25:35 to go in regulation, GCU looked to be well on its way to another blowout triumph. Jefferson had other ideas as the Rams poured in seven of the contest's next eight tallies to to slice the Lions' lead to just 12-9 with 10:14 left.

The margin would never get closer than three for Jefferson as Georgian Court gathered three of the game's final four scoring efforts (with the last two coming from Amanda Marino) to seal the historic victory.

Three-time All-CACC selection, Madison Heck, registered a game-high 11 points (which included nine assists) to earn tournament MVP honors. The native of Forked River, N.J., with her two goals, ends the season with 99 in her collegiate career. Amanda Marino and Riley O'Connor ripped hat tricks for the royal-and-gold. Sabrina Chandler added two goals and and a helper while dominating the draw with 11 draw controls. Alyssa Wahl contributed a goal and an assist off the Lions' bench.

Alexis Hahn, the newly-anointed CACC Goalkeeper of the Year, needed 10 saves to earn her 12th victory of the season (12-2). For her efforts, the sophomore shot-stopper joins teammates Chandler, Heck, Marino, Kelsey Naclerio, and Sauter on the All-Tournament Team.
