Winter Haven, Fla. - #20 Georgian Court University opened the 2022 softball campaign in stellar fashion Saturday as senior ace, Mikayla Gilgert, fired her second collegiate no-hitter in a 3-0 blanking of the University of Bridgeport to open the The Spring Games.

Gilgert (1-0) went the distance (7.0 IP) for the Lions, permitting only four base-runners in the gem (three walks, one reached on error) while striking out seven Purple Knights. The native of Apache Junction, Ariz., who needed only 93 pitches in the effort, spun her other no-no back on Feb. 29, 2020 (also in Winter Haven) with a six-inning, 8-0 triumph over Tiffin University.

Adriana Mungo (2-for-4) accounted for two of GCU's three tallies with a run-inducing single through the middle in the third inning, followed by a ribbie double to left-center in the seventh frame. Kiara Meikle (2-for-4, SB) and Kaitlyn Stufft (2-for-3, 2B) also enjoyed multi-hit performances in their respective season debuts.

Kaite Burawski (Hartley, Del.) took the tough-luck loss for Bridgeport (1-1) as the junior struck out 15 Lions (7.0 IP, 9 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 2 BB) in the complete-game.

GCU (1-0) looks to make it an opening day sweep as the royal-and-gold take on the University of Findlay at 2:30 p.m.
