Waterbury, Conn.- Georgian Court University's 2021-22 campaign, which included a thrilling 7-1 run to close the regular season toland the fourth-and-final playoff spot in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference south division, came to a quiet close Tuesday evening with a 74-62 loss to #1 (north division) Post University in the CACC quarterfinals.
Owning an early 9-8 lead after a
Tian Addison three-pointer halfway (5:02) through the first quarter, the Eagles took off on an 8-4 spurt to close the frame with a 16-13 lead. The Post surplus climbed as high as nine (32-23) in the second as the home team maintained a 34-28 cushion heading into intermission. Ripping off a 14-6 sprint to sit within five at the end of the third period (52-47), Georgian Court would get no closer the rest of the way as the victors closed out the contest with a 22-15 showing in the fourth-and-final stanza.Â
Kyle Ramseur (Sr.-Bloomfield, N.J.), named to the All-CACC Third Team earlier in the day, put on an all-world performance by leading Post with 32 points in the triumph.
Makayla Thompson (Jr.-Springfield, Mass.) followed with 14 points while
Tai Pagan (So.-New London, Conn.) and
Sha'Raya Haines (Jr.-Springfield, Mass.) cleared the glass of 12 and 11 rebounds, respectively.
Anyssa Fields, an All-CACC First Team selection for the second-straight season, ended her sophomore campaign with 13 points in 40 total minutes.
Nerea Brajac and
Ivona Krakic, both sporting the royal-and-gold for the final time, each netted 12 points apiece in their collegiate finales. Addison supplied an even 10 points in the effort.
The Eagles (19-7), winners of six-straight, now move on to play University of the Sciences (#2 south division) in Saturday's CACCÂ semifinal round, hosted by Caldwell University. The Devils dismissed Dominican College (#3 north division), 58-40. GCU finishes at 13-13.
