Shippensburg, Pa. - Georgian Court University ran out of time Wednesday afternoon, dropping a 11-10 decision to Shippensburg University in regional Division II women's lacrosse action.
The Lions, trailing 8-5 with 6:19 to go in the third period, responded with a 5-2 charge to knot the score at 10-10 with just 4:16 left in regulation.
Sara Vosburg (Baltimore, Md.) spoiled the GCU comeback as the freshman sent in the unassisted game-winner at the 3:10 mark to seal the win for the home team.
Six players came away with points for Shippensburg (2-1) in the effort, including
Bailey Krahl (So.-Towson, Md.) and
Hannah Seifried (Sr.- Springfield, Pa.) scored with three goals a piece for the Raiders.
Alana Cardaci (Gr.- Eagleville, Pa.) and Vosburg added two goals respectively in the edging.
Gabby Savarino (Sr.- Hauppauge, N.Y.) followed with one goal while
Jena MacDonald (Sr.- Frederick, Md.) collected four assists and
Sydney Costanza (Sr.- Denver, Pa.) added two helpers.Â
Shane Sauter and
Sabrina Chandler topped the Lions this time out with three goals each.
Riley O'Connor added two tallies for GCU.
Alyssa Wahl provided one score and one assist.
Heather Devaney accounted for one goal and two assists.
Remi Reinhardt grabbed some points with two assists.
Ally Weneta (Jr.-Roanoke, Va.) gathered ten saves in 45:00 of action to earn the goalkeeping victory for Shippensburg.
Alexis Hahn also collected ten saves for the royal-and-gold.
The Lions (1-3) regroup before taking on #6 East Stroudsburg University for a home non-conference lacrosse contest at 12 p.m. this Saturday.
