Georgian Court Ends Road Trip With Loss in Nations Capital

WASHINGTON, D.C. (Nov. 21, 2023) - Playing shorthanded and less than 24 hours after their game against Division I Fordham, Georgian Court Women's Basketball was back on the road for the final game of their season-opening five-game road trip. The Lions got down early and couldn't mount a comeback as the University of the District of Columbia picked up the 80-53 win.

• Julia Whesper scored nine straight for the Lions at the end of the half with three layups and a three-pointer.
• Whesper beat the buzzer for the three sending GCU into intermission on a high note.
• The GCU defense also picked up, holding the Firebirds to just 17 in the quarter but were down 49-34 at the half.
3rd Quarter
• The Lions momentum from Whesper's three at the end of the half didn't carry over into the second half.
• GCU went nearly the first six minutes of the quarter without a point as UDC pused their lead to 25, 59-34.
• Karissa Smedley ended the scoring drought with a layup, but the Lions scored just four in the quarter and trailed by a game-high 32, 70-38.
