WATERBURY, Conn. (Feb. 28, 2023) - Georgian Court made a furious comeback late in the second half, but it wasn't enough to save their season as in the end they fell in the CACC Tournament quarterfinals to the top seed in the North Division Post, 68-59. The Lions season ends with a 10-14 record after going 8-9 in CACC action.
How it Happened

• Georgian Court did a good job limiting turnovers, losing the ball just nine times while forcing 14.
• The Lions scored 16 of their 59 points in transition. Post scored just six on the fast-break.
• Georgian Court got down early as the Eagles scored the first 10 points of the game. The first GCU basket didn't come until a

•

• The Eagles held the Lions scoreless for 5:46 as they built their lead to 38-21 and went into the half up 15, 38-23.
• The Lions weren't able to dig much into that lead in the third. They finished the quarter on a 4-1 run and with 10 minutes left to play still trailed by 14, 56-42.
• Georgian Court kept creeping closer though. They used a 6-0 run to bring the lead into single digits, 60-51 with 3:28 left to play.
• The Lions needed to foul and the Eagles weren't lighting it up at the foul line. After Post went 1-2 at the line,
Jariah Patterson made it a seven-point game with a bucket with 32 seconds to play.
• Post missed a pair on their ensuing possession, but GCU couldn't capitalize missing a three and the clock ran out.
It Was Over When...
• Georgian Court had no room for error down seven with 32 seconds.
