WATERBURY, Conn. (May 6, 2023) - There will be no six-peat for Georgian Court Women's Lacrosse. The Lions hung though with top-seed Dominican, but eventually fell 15-11 in the semifinal round. They finish their season at 10-8 after an 8-2 CACC regular season.
How it Happened
• The story of the game may have come down to draw controls where Dominican won 21-of-29.
• The Chargers doubled up the Lions in shots 44-22 and had a 15-6 edge in free-position shots.
• Georgian Court also turned the ball over 14 times to the Chargers 11. Dominican got to 16 ground balls and the Lions nine.
• The game remained close throughout thanks to the play of senior
Alexis Hahn who stood on her head to keep the Lions in it. She made 18 saves including eight free-position saves.
First Half
• Georgian Court drew first blood with
Isabel Raimondi scoring less than two minutes in.
• Dominican answered though with two of their own before the five minute mark.
• The two teams traded goals and Dominican still led by one, 4-3 with less than a minute remaining though.
• GCU changed quickly that as
Riley O'Connor grabbed a draw control and
Kasha Elzinga tied the game with 55 seconds to play in the first.
• Another GCU draw control win, this time
Caitlin Petrellese and
Ashley Pringle deposited one just 34 seconds after Elzinga to give the Lions a 5-4 lead after one.
• The scored stayed 5-4 for nearly the first 10 minutes of the second quarter. Grace DeStasio scored twice in 58 seconds to give the Chargers the lead.

Isabel Raimondi scored on the advantage to tie things.
• With GCU again down a goal and again in the final minute, they found some magic from
Remi Reinhardt who scored on a free position shot and the game was tied at seven at the half.
Second Half
• Dominican scored the first two out of the break and with less than three minutes to play in the third, still led 9-7.
• But once again, Georgian Court scored late. Elzinga with two goals 1:03 apart to tie the game at nine.
• The goals didn't come late enough this time though as Dominican was able to answer with a goal with 1:17 remaining and an absolute back-breaker with just two seconds to play in the quarter to take an 11-9 lead.
• Dominican also scored the first two goals in the fourth quarter giving them four straight and their largest lead, 13-9. .
• Reinhardt and Elzinga each tallied another one, but Georgian Court couldn't cut the lead back below three as Dominican escaped with a 15-11 win.

• Grace DeStasio scored eight points with a game-high six goals and two assists.
• Caitlin Costello scored twice with two more assists.
• Madelyn Grella tallied three goals.
• Erin Carr won nine draw controls and had three ground balls.
• Kristinamarie Kaszovitz made eight saves.

• The loss is the Lions first in the CACC Tournament since 2016.
