WATERBURY, Conn. (Jan. 27, 2024) - Post Eagles pulled away in the third quarter of a 75-62 win over Georgian Court. The Lions made a late run in the fourth, but it wasn't enough as GCU fell to 3-5 in the CACC.
How it Happened
• For the game, Georgian Court shot 48% overall while Post was at 44%.
• The Eagles though were 9-28 from three while GCU focused inside the paint, shooting 0-4 from distance.
• The Lions were nearly perfect at the foul line, shooting 10-11 while Post was 14-18.
• Georgian Court also won the rebounding battle, 36-26 with 12 offensive boards.Â
• The Lions fumbled the ball 25 times which led to 36 Eagles points off turnovers. The Eagles lost the ball 16 times.
First Quarter
• The two teams were trading points early on in the game.
• The Eagles took a three with 2:04 to play to go up six, 14-8.
• Another three pushed the lead to seven, 18-11.
Imani Gillette hit a layup and the Lions trailed by five after 10 minutes.
Second Quarter
• The Lions started the second on a 4-0 to close to within one, 18-17 three minutes into the period.
• Post maintained the lead though and with two minutes to play in the half, the lead was back up to eight, 29-21.

Karissa Smedley knocked in a layup with 24 seconds to cut the lead to four, but Tijanae Simmons beat the buzzer with a three to lead 32-25 at the half.
Third Quarter
• Post took control in the third, scoring 28 points.
• Maya Klein hit back-to-back threes to start a 15-4 run as Post went up 47-31 midway through the half.
• With one quarter left to play, the Eagles led 60-37.
Fourth Quarter
• The Eagles lead got to as high as 26, 67-41, two minutes into the fourth quarter.
• From that point though, Georgian Court outscored the Eagles 21-8.Â
• The Lions scored 25 points in the period shooting 10-14 overall.Â
• The lead got cut down to 10, but time ran out with GCU down 75-62.

Imani Gillette was 9-19 scoring 22 points. She had a double-double with 14 rebounds.

Safiatu Kolliegbo added 16 points on 7-14 shooting with five rebounds and four steals.

Samantha Jones scored eight points off the bench.
For the Eagles
• Maya Klein scored 20 points going 7-15 and 6-12 from three.Â
• Tiara Pagan chipped in 17 and five rebounds.
• Trinity Bravo added seven with seven rebounds, five assists and six steals.
