LOCK HAVEN, Pa. (Dec. 4, 2024) - Georgian Court Women's Basketball was unable to follow up on their win last night in the second half of back-to-back games. The Lions finished their road trip with a nonconference game at Lock Haven where the Bald Eagles pulled away in the second half of a 79-43 win.
How it Happened
• Both teams shot around the same with the Lions hitting 34% and Lock Haven shot 35.7% overall.
• From three, Georgian Court was just 1-6 while the Bald Eagles hit 4-15.
• The free throw line made a big difference with Lock Haven hitting 25-38 and Georgian Court was 6-10.
• Lock Haven had a big advantage on the glass as well grabbing 53 to Georgian Court's 35. The Bald Eagles also blocked five shots.
• The Bald Eagles did a good job maintaining possession with just eight turnovers. They forced the Lions in 22.
1st Quarter
•
Niyell McCargo hit a jumper to start the game and gave the Lions and early 2-0 lead.
• The two teams traded points for a bit before the Bald Eagles finished the quarter on a 9-6 run to hold a slim 14-12 after 10 minutes of play.
2nd Quarter
• The Lions got back to within one early in the second thanks to a three-ball from
Julia Whesper.
• After that though, Lock Haven scored 14 straight and with 3:22 left to play in the half, were doubling up the Lions, 30-15.
• In the closing seconds,
Karissa Smedley made a layup, but a foul put Lock Haven at the line where they went 1-2 and held a 35-22 lead at the break.
3rd Quarter
• The third quarter is where Lock Haven really put the game away.
• Lock Haven scored 25 while Georgian Court struggled offensively hitting just 1-7 from the floor.
• A three-pointer with 2:05 left gave Lock Haven a 30-point lead at 58-27.
4th Quarter
• Georgian Court put up 14 points in the final frame, but it wasn't enough to threaten the Bald Eagle lead.
• Lock Haven hit 8-18 and went on to win 79-43.

Julia Whesper made 4-6 overall and scored 10 points.

Onnieya Martin grabbed a team-best nine rebounds and scored six points.

• Madeline Evans had an 18-point, 24-rebound double-double.
• Jenadia Jordan scored 18 as well.Â

• Georgian Court remains winless against Lock Haven. They are now 0-6 lifetime. This was their first match since the 2015-16 season.
