HARTSVILLE, SC (Feb. 29, 2024) - Georgian Court Softball picked up their first wins of the season Thursday afternoon. The Lions offense had a big day scoring 15 runs in both games, winning 15-12 in nine and 15-6 in the second.
Game 1 - Georgian Court 15, Coker 12 - 9 Innings
How it Happened
• The Lions scored 15 runs on 16 hits. Coker scored 12 on 18 hits.
• Coker committed six errors and the Lions two. Of the Lions 15 runs, 11 were unearned.
• GCU pitchers gave up two extra base hits while the Lions hit five doubles.
• For the fifth straight game, Georgian Court fell behind after the first inning. Coker scored a pair of unearned runs to take a 2-0 lead after one.
• The Lions got one back in the third and two in the fourth to take a 3-2 lead of their own.
Cheyenne Jackson scored
Jayda Jones in the third and Jones plated two with a two-RBI single in the fourth.
• Georgian Court added four more in the fifth.
Kaitlyn Stufft,
Alyssa Herrera and
Charlee Mae Sinderud all had RBI singles as the Lions extended their lead to 7-2.
• Coker got one back in the home half of the fifth, but GCU answered with two more unearned runs in the sixth.
Adriana Mungo had an RBI sacrifice fly to score Jackson and Stufft scored on
Jadalynn Rodriguez's RBI single.
• Trailing 9-3, the Cobra slithered back with a six-run sixth. Only one of the six runs was the result of a hit. Coker scored twice on sacrifice flies, twice on wild pitches and once on an error.
• In the bottom of the seventh, Coker loaded the bases with two outs, but
Janelle Blaszka got a pop up to send the game to extra innings.
• Starting international tie-breaking rules in the eighth, Georgian Court plated two. Mungo drove in the first with a double and she came around to score on Stufft's RBI single.
• Coker came back to tie the game with two run scoring hits. The Cobras still had two on with one out, but a ground ball double-play ended the inning.
• In the ninth,
Adriana Mungo broke the game open with a bases clearing double, her third double of the game.

Game 2 - Georgian Court 15, Coker 6 - 6 Innings
How it Happened
• The Lions scored 15 runs on 14 hits. Coker collected nine hits and six runs.
• GCU drew seven walks in the game.
• Coker again struggled defensively with four errors and the Lions scored six unearned runs.
• For the first time this season, Georigan Court scored in the first inning.

• Coker got a run in the home half of the first to cut the lead in half.
• Georgian Court scored in each of the first four innings. They got two more unearned runs in the second for a 4-1 lead.

• An field single from Stufft scored Jackson in the fourth. With one out,
Jadalynn Rodriguez drove in a pair, bringing the Lion lead to 9-1.
• Coker got back into the game with a five-run fifth. The biggest hit was a two-out, two-run home run cutting GCU's lead down to just three, 9-6.
• GCU got one back in the fifth as
Cheyenne Jackson's single score
Lia DeMaio. It could have been more, but Jackson was thrown out at the plate trying to score on a fly ball.
• Back-to-back RBI hits from
Charlee Mae Sinderud and
Jayda Jones plated two in the sixth.
• Mungo singled to score two more and the Lions had a five-run sixth.
