LAKEWOOD, NJ (April 29, 2024) - Georgian Court Women's Lacrosse put on a show in their final home game of the 2024 season. Playing as the No. 3 seed against No. 6 Holy Family, the Lions threw a second half shutout and dominated play throughout in their 20-4 quarterfinal round victory. GCU picks up their 12th win of the season and advance to the semifinals later this week.
How it Happened
• Despite draw control numbers being split down the middle, 14-14, the Lions still had a big edge in possession.Â
• GCU led in the shot department 29-25 and shots on goal 25-14.
• Each team made a number of turnovers. The Tigers lost the ball 16 times and the Lions 15. Many of Holy Family's came attempting to clear as they were just 10-17. Georgian Court got the ball into the offensive zone 20-22 times.
• Each team took five free-position shots. The Lions connected on three and the Tigers one. Each team also took three cards. Holy Family was the only one to score on the power play.
First Period
• The game was still close after the first 15 minute. GCU scored first as
Isabel Raimondi hit the back of the net 3:30 into the game.
• Holy Family answered a minute later, but the game was tied for just 13 seconds as
Remi Reinhardt won the draw, knifed her way down the field and found
Bryleigh Tejchman in front of the net who did the rest.
• Raimondi scored her second of the quarter on a free position goal and the Lions led 3-1.
• HFU got one back with 2:30 left to play and through one quarter of play it was just a one-point game, 3-2.
Second Period
• Georgian Court began to pull away in the second. They scored four goals in 3:04 to take a 7-2 lead.

Gianna Nardini and
Riley O'Connor each scored twice.
• A Tejchman goal was sandwich between a pair of Tiger goals as the lead was cut in half to 8-4 with 5:20 remaining in the half.
• Petrellese capped the half with a pair of goals to give GCU a 10-4 lead at intermission.
Third Period
• The second half was all Georgian Court.
• The Lions put
Natalie Moradian in at goal after a strong first half from
Cadence Gentile so each goalkeeper could get some work after not having played in a week.
• Moradian stopped every shot her way, pitching a shutout for 30 minutes.
• Georgian Court's offense didn't slow down with six more goals in the third.
• Six different Lions scored in the frame. Raimondi, Petrellese and Nardini each scored their third goals of the game.

Fourth Period
• With the game seemingly in hand up 16-4, the Lions emptied their bench.
• GCU still got four goals in the fourth. Nardini scored twice more.

Remi Reinhardt and
Kasha Elzinga also got in on the scoring action as the running clock finally hit all zeroes on a 20-4 win.

Gianna Nardini score a game high five goals on six shots with two caused turnovers.

• Cadence got the start and the win in net. She allowed four goals and made four saves.

• Ava Morrow was in goal and made five saves.
• Maura Kilkenny scored a goal with two assists.
• Tori Wolstenholme scored a goal and won a game-high six draw controls.
• Payton Pugh caused three turnovers and grabbed three ground balls.
