PHILADELPHIA, Penn. (April 23, 2025) - Georgian Court Women's Lacrosse wrapped up the regular season Wednesday afternoon at Holy Family. The Lions led end-to-end, pulling away in the second half of a 13-9 victory. The win finishes the Lions CACC record at 6-3 and clinches both the No. 4 seed in the CACC Tournament and a home game in the opening round.
How it Happened
• Georgian Court was the better team on the draw, winning 16-26 and that proved to be a big part of the Lions win.
• The Lions totaled 30 shots to the Tigers 22 and led in shots on goal, 19-13.
• Both teams turned the ball over plenty. GCU 19 times and HFU 18. The Lions were 14-16 on clear attempts and Holy Family 15-21.
• There were 11 penalties in the game, six for GCU and five on the Tigers. Georgian Court scored four woman-up goals and the Tigers netted two.
• Of the Lions six cards, four were fourth quarter yellows and three in the final three minutes of the game.Â
1st Quarter
• Georgian Court got off to a great start. They took advantage of Holy Family fouls and scored three off free-position shots in the first 10 minutes.
•
Isabel Raimondi scored two of those and
Michaela Scirrotto the other.
•
Caitlin Petrellese made it a 4-0 game with a goal with 3:12 to play in the first and it looked like GCU might pull away early.
• Off of a Lion turnover, Holy Family was able to break the shutout, scoring with 12 seconds to play in the first and get some much needed momentum.
2nd Quarter
• Whatever good feelings Holy Family had, were dashed as Petrellese scored to make it 5-1 in the opening minute of the second quarter.
• But the GCU offense slowed down after that.
• Holy Family scored twice to cut the lead in half to 5-3.
• The Tigers took a yellow card and on the power play, Raimondi put the Lions up 6-3 and took that lead into the half.
3rd Quarter
• Georgian Court put the hammer down in the third quarter.
Isabel Raimondi netted another three minutes into the half, and followed up with another goal nearly three minutes later.
• Holy Family cut the lead down to 8-4, but Georgian Court responded on the power play.
•
Gabrielle Battle scored woman-up and that started a 3-0 GCU run.
•
Jill Konschak and
Michaela Scirrotto also scored with the extra attack as Holy Family was spending a lot of time shorthanded.
• The Tigers got one of the goals back to make it 11-5 which is how the fourth quarter ended.
4th Quarter
• Just like the third quarter, GCU got a goal in the opening minute of the fourth. Raimondi found
Gabrielle Battle to make it a 12-5 game.
• Georgian Court only needed to run out the clock from there.
• Over the final eight minutes, Holy Family outscored the Lions 4-1, but it wasn't nearly enough for the Tigers to threaten the lead and GCU secured the win, 13-9.
