Men's Lacrosse Picks Up Crucial Win Over Bridgeport

LAKEWOOD, NJ (March 14, 2026) - Georgian Court Men's Lacrosse finally earned what had been escaping them all season long. That's a win, as they defeated CACC foe Bridgeport, 13-10, Saturday afternoon for their first win of the season.

How it Happened
• On a windy day with gusts of upwards of 50 mph, possession was critical.
• Despite Bridgeport winning 17-26 faceoffs, Georgian Court controlled the offensive gameplay.
• The Lions led in total shots, 37-34, while shots on goal were even at 25.
• GCU forced Bridgeport into 28 turnovers while the Lions lost the ball 24t imes themselves.
• Georgian Court was terrific playing man-down, killing three penalties. GCU was 1-3 themselves with the extra man.

1st Quarter
• The only time the Lions ever trailed is when Bridgeport scored the opening goal just over three minutes into the game.
• GCU was scoreless until the 6:16 mark of the first when Harrison Jordan tied the game.
• That got the Lions going as they scored four times in the final 6:16 of the first.
• Jordan scored again to make it 2-1 less than a minute later and GCU never trailed again.
• With four minutes to play, Blake Taylor scored the first of his career.
• UB made it a one goal game again, but in the closing seconds, Vincent Burns put GCU back up two, 4-2, as the quarter concluded.

2nd Quarter
• Jordan and Burns each scored again, giving GCU their largest lead of the half, 6-2.
• GCU's defense tightened up in the second led by goalie Vincent Burkhart. He made five saves in the first six minutes of the quarter.
• The Lions also killed off three penalties in the period, playing down for a total of 2:30.
• UB got one past Burkhart late in the second and Knnor Forlai's attempt was stopped by Matthew Hughes as time ran out in the half.
• After 30 minutes GCU was doubling up the Purple Knights, 6-3.

3rd Quarter
• Georgian Court regained their four-goal lead to start the third.
• The Burns brothers connected as Tyler found Vincent for the first goal of the half.
Zach Myers potted one to make it 8-4 Lions.
• Bridgeport had been in this position before. Earlier this week they came back from a four-goal second half deficit against Post.
• They started their comeback scoring three straight, getting two goals from James Napoli in less than a minute.
• With 30 seconds left, the Purple Knights closed to within one, 8-7.
• All the momentum was favoring Bridgeport until Daniel Devitt changed that. The faceoff specialist won the draw, then raced down the field, scoring to give GCU some breathing room.

4th Quarter
• The Lions played pin ball to score the first goal of the third. Myers' pass was deflected into the air in front of the crease where Drew Barocas caught it and fired into the net for his first goal.
• Twenty seconds later and playing with the man-advantage, Devitt was the man again, picking up a loose ball and scoring his second goal of the game.
• Shortly after Devitt's second, Bridgeport took a penalty and things seemed to be going the Lions way.
• A turnover in the offensive zone led to a Bridgeport quick transition and they scored shorthanded to get back to within three, 11-8.
• Georgian Court wasn't going to be denied though. Tyler Burns and Harrison Jordan scored two minutes apart as the Lions took their largest lead of the game, 13-8.
