Jazz Perazic
Head Coach | 12th Season
Coach Perazic enters her 12th year at Georgian Court University in the 2025-26 season. She is the winningest and the longest-tenured Georgian Court Women's Basketball Coach in the NCAA-era.
Perazic led her Lions to a perfect 7-0 record over the COVID19-shortened 2020-21 regular-season schedule as Georgian Court came to within one win of its first Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) women's basketball crown since 1993-94. Despite falling to #2 Dominican College in the CACC title game, Georgian Court advanced to the NCAA Division II Regional Championship round (Amherst, N.Y.) for the first time since joining the NCAA Division II ranks prior to the 2003-04 season.
The Lions, playing as the #3-seed, upended #6 Concordia College (NY) in the first round, 61-54, before having its dream year ended by #2 Daemen College, 73-54, in the semifinals. Georgian Court finished the year at 9-2 overall, a season that saw the Lions ranked as high as #19 in the D2SIDA National Top-25 Poll.
For her efforts, Perazic received CACC Coach of the Year honors. Anyssa Fields (Fr.) was selected as CACC Player & Defensive Player of the Year while Tian Addison (So.) secured a CACC First-Team honor.
That was followed up with a 13-13 record, 10-8 in conference and the number 4 seed in the South Division in 2021-22. The Lions again made the CACC Tournament in 2022-23 going 8-9 in the CACC while Savawn Hughes was named to the All-CACC team.
Georgian Court made previous history in 2018-19, a season during which the Lions recorded their first postseason appearance in 16 years and proceeded to upset #2 Caldwell University (80-63) on the road in the opening round of the CACC tournament .
Perazic joined the Lions after serving as an assistant coach with the Monmouth University women's basketball team in West Long Branch, N.J. She joined the NCAA Division I program after serving as head coach at Elizabeth Seton High School in Bladensburg, Maryland for four campaigns.
Jazz was named the 2009 Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) District III National Coach of the Year, in addition to earning 2009 Prince George's County Coach of the Year by the county's Gazette newspaper.
A 1983 graduate of the University of Maryland, Jazz enjoyed a standout playing career with the Terrapins. The former All-American earned ACC Tournament MVP honors in 1983 and eventually had her #4 jersey retired by the University. Her Terrapin teams won three ACC Championships, advancing to the Final Four in 1982.
A member of the Yugoslavian National Team from 1980-1992, Jazz suited up for Yugoslavia in the 1980 Summer Olympic Games in Moscow and the 1984 Summer Games in Los Angeles, and is a former MVP of the European Championships. The native of Serbia played for the WNBA's New York Liberty in 1997 and is a member of the University of Maryland Hall of Fame.
In July 2013, the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame announced that it would induct Perazic as part of its Class of 2014. The announcement was made during the 2013 WNBA All-Star Game. On June 14th, 2014, Perazic traveled to the historic Knoxville Tennessee Theater where she was formally inducted into the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame, along with five other members.
