LAKEWOOD, NJ- Suffering a 10-point defeat at Cheyney University on December 2nd, the Georgian Court University basketball squad successfully avenged that blemish on their schedule as they dropped the Lady Wolves, 65-49, Wednesday evening in the GCU Wellness Center.
Freshman
Shawna Wert contributed her second 20-point effort of the season as she led all scorers with 20 points, shooting 5-for-11 from the floor. The Sewell, NJ native nailed a game-high three three-pointers and drained seven of nine free throw shots.
Dana Wert (Fr.) and
Christina White (So.) (pictured) also tallied double-digit shooting efforts for the Lions, scoring 12 points apiece.
Shaniqua Bacote (Fr.) was a force on the glass, tearing down a game-high 15 boards.
Dee Varley (Sr.) and
Marley-Anne Mauvais (Fr.) grabbed nine each.
Angel Stephens (Sr.-Bensalem, PA) and
Lutfiyya Muhammad (Philadelphia, PA) led the Lady Wolves with 15 and 10 points, respectively.
Stephanie Orji (Sr.-Philadelphia, PA) led the squad with 10 rebounds.
Georgian Court improves to 3-6 with the victory while Cheyney University falls to 3-4 on the season.
The Lions next take to the floor this Sunday afternoon when they welcome UMASS-Lowell to "The Well" for a 1:00 PM contest.
