Lions Volleyball Keeps Streak Alive ... Win 53rd Straight CACC Match

LAKEWOOD, NJ- The Georgian Court University volleyball squad inched to within one game of.500 (5-6, 2-0 CACC) as they held off CACC-rival Holy Family University, 3-1 (25-20, 25-19, 17-25, 25-19) in front of a raucous crowd of 123, Thursday evening at the GCU Wellness Center. With the win, the Lions increase their conference winning streak to 53 straight victories.

Senior Janelle Murdock played an integral role both offensively and defensively as she registered a double-double with her team-high 12 kills and 15 digs. Freshman Brandi Arsenault (pictured left) hovered over the net most of the contest and hammered home 11 kills.

Lisamary Figueroa compiled her own version of a double-double with her 28 assists and 11 digs. Senior libero, Ana Cruz also reached double-digits in the digs column as she bumped 13 Holy Family smashes.

The third-set victory by the Tigers (4-11, 2-1 CACC) was only the fifth game that Georgian Court has lost in their 20 total home matches since the Wellness Center opened its doors in August, 2008. 

It's back on the bus for the Lions as they play their next five matches on the road, commencing with a tri-match this Saturday afternoon at Southern Connecticut State University. GCU takes on Mercy College (0-6) at 2:00 PM before taking the floor vs. the host-Owls (11-0) at 4:00 PM.
