PHILADELPHIA- In a season that has been consistently inconsistent thus far, The Georgian Court University volleyball squad hopes to have turned a corner as they marched into Philadelphia University Tuesday evening and dropped the Lady Rams, 3-2 (25-23, 24-26, 25-21, 25-27, 15-12), ending Philly's 14-game winning streak and extending the Lions' CACC winning streak to 54 straight.
Three Lions posted double-doubles in the five-set marathon, including
Janelle Murdock (20 kills, 24 digs),
Joann Zayas (19 kills, 19 digs) and
Lisamary Figueroa (55 assists, 26 digs). Libero
Ana Cruz led all players with 33 digs. Freshman
Amy Berry (pictured left) drillled a season-high 10 kills.
With the victory, The Lions even their record at 7-7 and improve to 3-0 in CACC action this season. Philly falls to 14-2 (4-1 CACC).
GCU travels back to PA on Thursday evening for another CACC contest, this time at the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia. Start time is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
