LAKEWOOD, NJ- The Georgian Court University volleyball squad earned its season-high fourth straight victory and improved to 10-5 in CACC competition (11-15 overall) with a thrilling 3-1 triumph over visiting Wilmington University Tuesday evening in the Wellness Center.
The Lions fell, 25-23, in the first set before rattling off three unanswered wins (25-18, 25-23, 25-22) in the next three stanzas.
GCU's
Amy Berry led all players with 17 kills (including seven in set three) while digging 18 balls for the double-double.
Stephanie Rivera who was honored before the match on GCU's annual Senior Night, collected 14 kills and an astounding .407 attack %.
Brandi Arsenault also contributed 14 kills for the Lions.
For the second straight match, freshman setter
Karol Oliveros established a new career-high with 47 assists. Libero #Nicole Sparks topped GCU with 22 digs.
For Wilmington (17-10, 11-4 CACC),
Nicole Wiechecki (SO.-Wilmington, DE) garnered a team-high nine kills. Seniors
Meghan Frick (Fairfax, VA) and
Brittany O'Neill (Sr.-Newark, DE) reached double-digits with 18 and 15 digs, respectively.
Shannon Rumple (Jr.-Fallston, MD) distributed a team-high 24 assists for the Wildcats.
Georgian Court takes to the road for its final five regular-season matches starting with a contest this Friday evening (7:00 PM) at Goldey-Beacom College in Wilmington, DE.
