LAKEWOOD, NJ- The Georgian Court University, for the first time in almost five years, dropped its second straight match to a CACC opponent, losing Monday evening in the GCU Wellness Center to Philadelphia University, 3-1 (14-25, 26-24, 21-25, 18-25).
The Lions (1-10, 1-2 CACC) last dropped two consecutive conference outings on November 5th, 2005, when they were swept in a tri-match vs. Dominican College and Bloomfield College.
Georgian Court's 26-24 victory in set two was the first set the Lions have won in three home matches this season.
Sophomore Brandi Arsenault led the GCU attack with 11 kills (27 total attempts) while freshman Karol Oliveros established a career-high with 30 assists. Sophomore Amy Berry gathered 18 digs for the Lions while freshman libero Nicole Sparks (17) and senior Giovanna Cartagena (13) also reached double digits.
Philadelphia University freshman Leanna Lillge (Ixonia, WI) produced a double-double with 14 kills and 18 digs. Brittany Olson (Fr.-Sycamore, IL) led all players with 19 digs. Libero Lauren Hoover (Sr.-New Baltimore, MI) distributed 16 assists for the Lady Rams (6-2, 4-0 CACC).
GCU goes back at it this Thursday when the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia visits the Wellness Center at 7 PM.
