FLUSHING, NY- The Georgian Court University soccer squad, led by goalkeeper
Shealyn Sullivan, held a relentless Queens College offense scoreless for over 87 minutes Wednesday afternoon. However,
Brittany Silipo's (So.-Bay Shore, NY) third goal of the season at 87:39 broke the 0-0 tie and solidified a 1-0 victory for the host-Knights.
Silipo drilled a
Kirri Bolton (Sr.-Tanja, Australia) pass inside the left post for the game-winner.
Queens (4-4) dominated GCU (2-3-1) in the shots column, outshooting the Lions, 28-3.
Sullivan was brilliant in net for Georgian Court, collecting 13 saves in the tough-luck defeat. Knights' netminder,
Allison Breakey (So.-Frankfort, IL), rejected two shots in the triumph.
GCU returns to its conference schedule this Saturday with a 1:00 PM visit to Concordia College in Bronxville, NY. The Lions are looking for a little payback after the Clippers came to Investors Savings Bank Field on 9/19/09 and upset Georgian Court, 3-1.
