GCU Soccer Back on Track with 1-0 Dismissal of NYIT

Shealyn Sullivan
LAKEWOOD, NJ- Coming into Tuesday's contest, riding a three-game skid, the Georgian Court University soccer squad could ill afford an effort riddled with tommyrot. The Lions bought into that mindset brilliantly as the home team blanked visiting NYIT, 1-0, on Investors Savings Bank Field.

With the triumph, GCU returns to the .500 mark with a record of 7-7.

Nicole Petrosino pumped in a rebound resulting from a Kelly Lyons blast off the left post for her second goal of the season at 55:37 to give Georgian Court what would be an insurmountable 1-0 advantage.

Shealyn Sullivan secured her second shutout of the campaign as she tallied seven saves in net for the Lions. GCU outshot the visiting Bears, 17-12.

NYIT falls to 6-8 on the year.

GCU hits the road for another non-conference match as they travel to Mercy College Thursday afternoon in Dobbs Ferry, NY. Start time is scheduled for 3:30 PM.
