LAKEWOOD, NJ- In a contest moved from New York to Investors Savings Bank Field due to poor field conditions, the Georgian Court University soccer squad welcomed the change of venue with open arms as the Lions improved their home record to 7-1 (8-7 overall) with a tidy 2-0 blanking of Mercy College Thursday afternoon.
Georgian Court took it upon itself to light the scoreboard first at 35:36 when
Candace Seaton laced in a
Becky Witmer feed to make the score 1-0 and tally her second score of the year.
Rachael Tremblay put the game on ice at 47:00 when the freshman rumbled through a wave of Mercy defenders to net her first collegiate goal (assisted by
Farrell Pomponio).
Shealyn Sullivan, recently named CACC Scholar-Athlete of the Month for September, earned the win in net for GCU with six saves in 77:54.
The Mavericks fall to 3-12 on the season.
The Lions, riding a two-game winning streak take on Felician College in CACC action Saturday afternoon at 1:00 PM, after honoring their two-time champion seniors with a pregame Senior day celebration (

Alexa Niro, Seaton, Sullivan).
