Jaslene Lopez
CALDWELL, NJ- Less than 24 hours after hosting and losing to a Pace University squad that earned its 10th straight victory, Georgian Court University had the daunting task of traveling to Caldwell College Saturday afternoon to take on the reigning CACC champion Cougars AND the reigning NCAA Division II East Region champions, perennial powerhouse Dowling College, in a tri-match.

GCU opened the day with the CACC portion of its double-dip, falling to host-Caldwell, 3-0 (22-25, 19-25, 9-25). Tatiana Villariny tied the Cougars' Amber Mosher (Jr.-Flanders, NJ) for the game-high in kills with 12. Francheska Cedres was the lone Lion to exceed double-digits in digs with her 12. Jaslene Lopez collected a team-high 23 assists.

Caldwell's Lauren Roth (Sr.-Findlay, OH) led all participants with 31 assists while teammate Susan McDonough (Jr.-Saline, MI) did the same with her 15 digs. She also knocked home 10 kills to earn the double-double. Jaclyn Del Cid (Fr.-Bogota, NJ) controlled 12 digs for the Cougars (13-2, 9-0 CACC).

Georgian Court did not fair much better in the nightcap as the Lions again succumbed by a 3-0 decision (20-25, 12-25, 11-25), this time to the Golden Lions of Dowling (12-3).

Villariny again tied for the match-high with her eight kills, joining Dowling's Dragana Jelovac (Fr.-Kotor, Montenegro), Cassy Kelly (Fr.-Fraser, MI) and Bethany Shepard (Jr.-Lakewood, CO) atop the list. Cedres and Dowling's Morgan Mutranowski (Jr.-Muskego, WI) each tallied nine digs apiece.

Lopez led the Lions with her 19 assists. Maja Potpara (Gr.-Pljevlja, Montenegro) distributed a match-high 21 for the Golden Lions.

GCU ends the day with an overall record of 5-14 (4-5 CACC).
