LAKEWOOD, NJ- Concluding an extremely challanging stretch against nationally-ranked opponents, the Georgian Court Univerisity lacrosse squad dropped a home contest to #10 Dowling College Saturday afternoon, 22-12. This follows games at #3 C.W. Post University (3/9) and #8 Stonehill College (3/5) over the past week.
The Lions (0-4), as they did in the previously mentioned matches, played a very close half. However, after trailing by a tally of 9-5 at the half, the Golden Lions (2-0) outscored GCU, 13-7, in the second stanza.
Ryan McGrath and
Lauren Conaty carried the Georgian Court offense as McGrath netted six goals and two assists while Conaty scored three goals and an assist.
Catherine Dee collected her first collegiate goal at 20:08 in the second half.
Five Dowling players registered multi-goal games, led by
Kelly Cefalu's (Sr.-East Islip, NY) five.
Brooke Witkowski (Jr.-Lindenhurst, NY) provided three goals and a game-high seven assists.
GCU goalkeeper
Jennifer Molzon denied 10 Dowling shots in the effort.
The Lions open the CACC portion of its schedule this Tuesday afternoon at 4PM with a home game vs. Chestnut Hill College.
