LAKEWOOD, NJ-The Georgian Court University lacrosse made easy work of visiting Post University Thursday afternoon with a 20-0 blanking of the Eagles, courtesy of goalkeepers
Jennifer Molzon and Jillian Pennington. It was the fourth shutout in the history of GCU lacrosse and first since a 13-0 victory over Ferrum College back on April 6, 2007.
The Lions (3-4, 3-0 CACC) put this contest out of reach before five minutes even ticked off the clock as GCU collected a commanding 6-0 lead just 4:50 into the game. Georgian Court expanded that advantage to 12-0 before halftime.
GCU added eight more scores in the second stanza with the final one coming with 15 seconds remaining from senior
Amy Ramsthaler, the very first of the senior's four-year career.
Ryan McGrath led her teammates with six points, including four goals and two assists.
Amanda Dilger (3 goals, 2 assists),
Molly McCourt (3 goals, 2 assists) and
Daryl Carr (2 goals, 3 assists) enjoyed five-point efforts while
Catherine Dee (3 goals) and
Alley Abbate (1 goal, 3 assists) collected four points apiece.
Jennifer Molzon improved to 3-4 on the year in net for GCU and did not face a single shot in her lone half of the game (30:00). Jillian Pennington tallied five saves as she played the entire second frame.
Post University falls to 1-4 (0-3 CACC) on the season.
Georgian Court returns to action next Wednesday when arch-rival Philadelphia University travels to Lakewood for a 3:30 PM CACC showdown.
