GCU Lacrosse Takes Round One From Holy Family, 13-8 ... Travels to Tigers on Saturday

LAKEWOOD, NJ- In the front end of a home-and-home set and a rematch of the 2010 CACC championship game, the Georgian Court University lacrosse squad defeated CACC rival Holy Family University in a home match Tuesday afternoon, 13-8, to improve to 6-0 in conference play (6-4 overall).

GCU seemed to be coasting to another CACC conquest as they entered the half with a 9-2 advantage. However, the Tigers (3-7, 2-4 CACC) showed mettle by outscoring the home team, 6-4, in the second stanza.

Three Lions posted hat tricks on the day, which included Corrine Coyle (3 goals), Shannon Mastrogiovanni (3 goals) and Shannon Gallo (3 goals, 1 assist). Alley Abbate led all scorers with seven points (1 goal, 6 assists).

Jillian Hadfield (2 goals) and Ryan McGrath (1 goal, 2 assists) also enjoyed multi-point efforts.  Jennifer Molzon denied seven Holy Family shots in 47 minutes of action to improve to 6-4 in the GCU net. 

Anna Roszel was stellar in the field with an impressive seven groundballs and six caused turnovers.

The Lions play the back end of the home-and-home with a Saturday afternoon contest at Holy Family beginning at 12 PM.
