Close, But No Cigar ... Lions Fall in Three Competitive Sets to Dominican College

Jaslene Lopez
LAKEWOOD, NJ- In a match that can be misconstrued as lopsided, the young Georgian Court University volleyball squad gave visiting Dominican College a respectable battle Saturday morning in the GCU Wellness Center, eventually falling to the Lady Chargers in three high-octane sets (24-26, 22-25, 22-25).

Dominican stays perfect in CACC play (5-0) while improving its overall record to 8-6. The Lions fall to 5-10 (4-3 CACC) on the year.

GCU's Tatiana Villariny led all players with her 14 kills. Three Lions reached double-digits in the digs column, including Francheska Cedres (14), Maria Antimisiaris (12) and Amy Berry (12). Jaslene Lopez followed up her 50-assist performance from Thursday vs. Chestnut Hill with a game-high 32 dishes in the defeat.

Jordyn Fuller (Jr.-Keller, TX) controlled a game-high 17 digs. Kayla Dexter (Fr.-Selah, WA) and Courtney Heard (Jr.-Ventura, CA) led the Lady Chargers with five kills apiece while Whitney Ranger (Jr.-Ventura, CA) distributed 21 assists.

Georgian Court hits the road to take on Holy Family University in CACC action Tuesday evening at 7 PM. The Lions faced Holy Family back on September 3rd in the Millersville University Marauders Fall Clash, losing to the Tigers in a "non-conference" contest, 3-2 (23-25, 25-20, 25-11, 23-25, 11-15).
