PHILADELPHIA- The Georgian Court University volleyball squad began the conference portion of its schedule in sparkling fashion Wednesday evening as the Lions topped CACC rival, Chestnut Hill College, 3-1 (25-22, 19-25, 25-17, 25-22) at Sorgenti Arena.
Amy Berry led the charge for the Lions (2-3, 1-0 CACC) with a double-double, which included 11 kills and 11 digs.
Tatiana Villariny, who also contributed 11 kills, fell just short of her own double-double (nine digs).
Jaslene Lopez dominated with the dishes as she led all players with 41 assists.
Dara Schroeder tied Berry for the team-high with her 11 digs.
Chestnut Hill's
Alex DePalma (So.-Shillington, PA) posted a double-double of her own with 12 digs and a game-high 14 kills. Teammate
Liz DiGregorio (Jr.-Conshohocken, PA) topped all players with her 15 digs.
The Griffins fall to 3-2 (0-1 CACC) on the young season.
GCU returns to the floor Saturday afternoon for another conference showdown, this time at Felician College. Start time is scheduled for 12:00 PM.
