LAKEWOOD, NJ- Katie Vecchio's fifth goal of the season just 2:52 into the game proved to be the deciding factor as the Georgian Court University soccer squad held on for a 1-0 victory over visiting Bloomfield College Saturday afternoon in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play. The Lions snap their two-game slide and improve to 7-2 in conference play (9-5-1 overall) while the Lady Deacons slip to 2-9 (1-8 CACC).

GCU goalkeeper Casey O'Connor earned her third shutout of the year, denying both Bloomfield shots she faced. Lady Deacons' keeper Sashagay Spence (Jr.-St. Elizabeth, Jamaica) collected 10 saves in the loss. The Lions outshot their guests by a 15-2 margin and owned a 13-1 advantage in corner kicks.

Georgian Court again takes to the field this Wednesday when they celebrate Senior Day prior to their final regular season home game of 2012, a 3:30 p.m. CACC match vs. Goldey-Beacom College.
