Emily Gialanella
LAKEWOOD, NJ- The scores may be a little closer in 2012, but the results are just the same as the Georgian Court University lacrosse squad continues to dominate CACC competition. The Lions sealed their 38th-consecutive conference regular season victory Saturday afternoon with an exciting 14-11 triumph over visiting Wilmington University.

GCU improves to 5-1 on the year and improves its CACC record to 4-0. The Wildcats fall to 5-2 and suffer their first blemish in conference play (2-1).

Wilmington jumped out to a 2-0 lead on goals from Jessica Graybeal (Sr.-Havre de Grace, MD) and Jaclyn Hall (Jr.-Bel Air, MD). GCU's Corinne Coyle and Stephanie Gallo countered with goals of their own to even the score at 2-2.

The two squads would alternate tallies to make the score 4-4 with 9:14 remaining in the first half. The Lions would inch ahead to a 5-4 advantage on a Molly McCourt score at 7:56. Wilmington's Kory Webster (Sr.-Abingdon, MD) and Molly Taylor (Jr.-Forest Hill, MD) proceeded to find the back of the net and give the visitors a 6-5 lead with 3:56 on the clock.

Coyle immediately responded with her second and third goals of the half to give Georgian Court a 7-6 lead going into halftime. The Lions would not relinquish the lead again in the contest as they started the second stanza with four consecutive goals.

With GCU holding an 11-6 lead with 21:01 remaining, Wilmington showed some mettle on the road as they answered with a flurry of four consecutive tallies of its own and cut the deficit to 11-10 with 10:15 remaining. That would be as close as the Wildcats would claw as the Lions put an end to the catfight with three straight goals of their own, making the score 14-10 with 3:07 on the clock.

Coyle, the reigning CACC Player of the Week, increased her team goal lead to 23 with this afternoon's hat trick. She also dished two assists. Samantha Shaw enjoyed a five-point day,as well, as she snapped four goals and an assist. Catherine Dee, Emily Gialanella, and Molly McCourt also sported two-goal contests.

Amanda Cathcart earned her fifth consecutive win in net for the Lions as the freshman collected six saves in 60 minutes of action.

The Lions take to the road on Wednesday for their next contest, a 4PM CACC showdown at Post University in Waterbury, CT.
