WATERBURY, Conn. – A season-high five goals from sophomore
Molly McCourt and a hat-trick from both
Catherine Dee and #Olivia Rotunno# paced the Georgian Court University lacrosse team to a 21-7 victory over Post University (1-8, 0-6 CACC) at LaMoy Field on Wednesday afternoon, giving the Lions their 39th consecutive CACC regular-season victory.
Georgian Court (6-1, 5-0 CACC) opened the game on a 9-1 run over the first 11:58 of the contest, with the lone Post tally from the stick of Eryka Baez with 21:26 to play in the opening period. After Morgan Kanavy made the score 9-2 with 15:59 remaining in the first half, the Lions scored seven unanswered goals to close the half with a 16-2 advantage.
Baez scored four of Post's five goals in the second half, including three in a row to kick-start a 4-0 Eagles' run. The stretch, which spanned 10:15, closed with a Mallorie Michalak tally to pull Post within 13, 20-7. Georgian Court's
Mary Lynn Hankins wrapped up the scoring on a free-position goal with 1:05 to play.
Freshman
Amanda Cathcart garnered her sixth consecutive victory in net for the Lions, collecting four saves in 43:41.
Anna Kibrick denied two Post shots in 16:19 of relief.
McCourt (5 goals, 1 assist),
Corinne Coyle (2 goals, 4 assists), and
Samantha Shaw (2 goals, 4 assists) each earned a game-high six points for Georgian Court, Dee provided four points (3 goals, 1 assists) and seven draw controls.
Heather Jensen collected a goal and an assist off the Lions' bench.
The Lions stay on the road and travel to Holy Family University for a CACC contest this Saturday at 12PM.
