GCU Lax Drops Non-Conference Affair at #13 Dowling, 19-5

Brookhaven, N.Y.- The #13 Dowling College Golden Lions took out Georgian Court University. 19-5, in non-conference action Saturday afternoon, improving their record to 5-4. GCU falls to 8-3 with the defeat.

The first half featured constant pressure on offense from Dowling. They opened up the contest scoring 14 goals within the first twenty minutes of the game. Samantha Stavish of the Golden Lions was the game-leader after the first half, with four goals and an assist. Brooke Witkowski and Jackie Andersen continued their consistent scoring, with each player recording five points and four points respectively. In total, nine different Golden Lions recorded a point in the half.

The second half saw Dowling pull back, as they added only five goals during the stanza. Freshman defender Melissa Guglielmo picked up the first goal of her college career in the half. Corinne Coyle picked up a hat trick in the Georgian Court defeat,  while Stephanie Gallo contributed a goal and an assist. Freshman Kerry Stader also found the back of the net for the Lions.

Georgian Court returns home to take on Holy Family University Wednesday afternoon at 4PM. The Tigers snapped the Lions' record 39-game regular season winning streak vs. CACC opponents with 12-11 defeat of Georgian Court, March 31.
