Lions Leveled by Lady Chargers of Dominican, 3-1

 Orangeburg, N.Y.- The Dominican College women's volleyball team rallied after losing the first set to win the next three sets en route to a 3-1 victory over the visiting Lions of Georgian Court University in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action played today on Coach Baxter Court at the Hennessy Center.

DC held a 15-11 lead when the Lions went on a 9-0 scoring run to go ahead 20-15 and didn't look back in the 25-19 win.

Set two was tied at 20-20 when the Lady Chargers scored three straight points to take a 23-20 lead.  Back-to-back kills from sophomore Kayla Dexter (Selah, Wash.) and senior Michelle Fiorvanti (Commack, N.Y.) gave Dominican the 25-22 win and tied the set at 1-1.

The Lady Chargers never trailed in the third set and led by as many as six points in the 25-20 win to take a 2-1 match lead.

Dominican didn't trail in set four as they quickly built up a 12-5 advantage and cruised to the 25-15 win and 3-1 match victory.

Dexter and her cousin, Tori Dexter (Selah, Wash.) led the team with 10 kills a-piece.

Setter Whitney Ranger (Ventura, Calif.) tallied 38 assists, while Jordyn Fuller (Keller, Texas) had a team leading 11 defensive digs.

Fiorvanti and T. Dexter each added 10 digs in the win.

GCU's Amy Berry and Jhoan Agosto each at 10 kills apiece while Jaslene Lopez led the way with 38 assists. She also added 10 digs for her second straight double-double. Three other Lions also eclipsed 10+ digs, including Francheska Cedres (17), Gabriela Berrios-Hernandez (11), and #Maria Antimisiaris (10).

With the win, Dominican improves to 8-7 overall and 4-0 in the CACC. The Lions drop to 4-8 (1-3 CACC) on the year.

Georgian Court travels to Holy Family University Tuesday evening for another CACC matchup. Start time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
