Orangeburg, N.Y.- The Dominican College men's soccer team improved to 6-5-3 overall and 4-2-1 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play after shutting out the visiting Lions of Georgian Court University, 2-0, Saturday afternoon in a game played at the DC Soccer Field.
GCU, winless in four straight, falls to 5-7-1 (2-5-1 CACC) on the year.
Senior midfielder
Sony Narro (Stamford, Conn.) broke the 0-0 tie at the 56:39 mark with a goal off the assist from Jorge Zubillaga
(Punta del Este, Uruguay). Zubillaga added a goal in the 62nd minute for the 2-0 victory.
Charger keeper
Steven Hegner (Pomona, N.Y.) picked up his first collegiate win.
Rylan Gentil collected four saves in goal for the Lions.
DC outshot GCU 18-3 and held a 9-4 advantage in corner kicks.
Georgian Court stays on the road for its next contest as the Lions head to Philadelphia University Wednesday afternoon for a 4:00 p.m. conference match.
