Lincoln University, PA -
Tuere Chisholm-Thomas's two first-half tallies provided Georgian Court University women's soccer a commanding 2-0 first-half advantage, but host-Lincoln University battled back with two scores of its own in the second stanza to force two overtime sessions, resulting in a 2-2 stalemate.
Chisolm-Thomas put GCU on the board first at 30:15, courtesy of a
Kerry Ann Strohmeier assist. The redshirt-freshman netted her second of the contest (and fifth of the season) at 33:11, this time off a
Rachael Tremblay feed.
Trailing 2-0 at intermission, Lincoln's
Tara O'Brien (Twickenham London, UK/St. Mark's Catholic School) passed to
Haley Hendricks (Carlsbad, Calif./Carlsbad HS) for a goal at 48:28. O'Brien then netted the equalizer in the 78th minute (78:35) after
Christian Harris (Rochester, NY/The Aquinas Institute) drew the defense in to the far corner of the field before firing the pass that resulted in a straight away goal.
Lincoln improves to 7-3-2, while Georgian Court goes to 8-3-3 on the season. The tie marks GCU's most in a season since five such affairs in 2008.
Georgian Court outshot Lincoln, 28-22, on the night. Casey O'Connor collected 10 saves in net for the Lions.
The Lions return to conference play Saturday afternoon when the host Post University at 12:00 p.m. Investors Savings Bank Field.
