PHILADELPHIA – Sophomore midfielder Ryan Schroy (Medford, N.J./Shawnee) and junior midfielder Ryan McIntyre (Woodbury, N.J./Pitman) both scored their first goal of the season as the Philadelphia University men's soccer defeated visiting Georgian Court, 2-0, in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match Wednesday afternoon on Ravenhill Field.

Philadelphia improves 8-4-1 overall and 6-2-1 in the CACC. Georgian Court is now 5-8-1 overall, 2-6-1 against the conference.

"This is the second straight game that we (GCU) stayed in the game and showed a sustained attack in a hard-fought defeat," said Head Coach Dino Raso. "Three days ago, it was against the 2012 conference champs (Dominican College) and this game was against the current second place team. I am very excited about the future of this young Lions squad!"

Schroy opened the scoring in the 13th minute with a leaping header to drill home a crossing pass from junior midfielder Victor Chagonda (Harare, Zimbabwe).

The game remained 1-0 until the 62nd minute when McIntyre got a running start at a senior defender David Lawrence (Wilbraham, Mass./Wilbraham & Monson Academy) drop pass and blasted a shot from 20 yards out into the upper left corner of the goal.

In his first start of the 2013, junior goalkeeper Neil Kwiatkowski (Schenectady, N.Y./Duanesburg) made two saves to record the shutout. Georgian Court's Rylan Gentil stopped seven shots.

The Lions next welcome #9 Post University to Investors Savings Bank Field Saturday afternoon at 2:30 p.m.
