Mellow Yellow … Lions Raise Funds for Cancer, Coast Past Post, 4-0

Lakewood, N.J.- The Georgian Court University women's soccer squad stayed perfect in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play, and secured its conference leading eighth shutout, Saturday afternoon as the Lions coasted to a 4-0 victory over visiting Post University on Investors Savings Bank Field.

Prior to and throughout the contest, Georgian Court supported and raised funds for cancer awareness by sporting yellow warm-up shirts and selling themed shirts to those in attendance.

Taylor Mize kicked off the scoring for GCU (9-3-3, 8-0-2 CACC) at 13:37 when she deposited a direct free kick into the net from the top of the circle, securing her team-leading, seventh goal of the year and a 1-0 Lions' advantage.

Early in the second stanza (49:51), Tayler Bramley netted her fourth tally of the season when she snared a Post goal kick, took a dribble or two, and blasted home the Lions' second goal of the match.

Less than two minutes later (51:22), Bramley provided the assist on Katie Vecchio's second goal of the year, making the score 3-0 GCU.

At 62:02, Bramley played a factor on yet another GCU scoring attempt when she headed in an on-the-mark corner kick from Kaitlyn Hartkopf to increase the Lions' advantage to 4-0.

Casey O'Connor improved to 9-3-2 in net for Georgian Court as the sophomore gathered five saves in 69:37. Tianna Worden collected a lone save in her 20:23 of relief.

Post's Erika Baez (Jr.-Clifton, N.J.) was saddled with the loss, falling to 1-3 with zero saves. The Lions outshot their guests, 12-8, with the Eagles (5-8, 3-6 CACC) owning a slight 6-5 advantage in corner kicks.

Georgian Court returns to action on Tuesday afternoon when they host a non-conference match vs. NYIT at 3:30 p.m.
