CALDWELL, N.J. – A goal by junior forward Natalie Migoya (Lincoln Park, NJ/Morris Catholic) in the 15th minute allowed the Caldwell College women's soccer team to defeat Georgian Court University, 1-0 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference game Saturday afternoon at Caldwell Field. The Cougars are now 9-5-2 overall and 7-2-2 in the conference. The loss is the first CACC defeat of the season for the Lions, who are 10-4-3, 8-1-2 CACC.
Migoya received a pass from junior midfielder Ashlee Paknis (Little Egg Harbor, NJ/Pinelands Regional) about 10 yards from the goal. Her shot beat goalkeeper Casey O'Connor 14:26 into the game for what proved to be the game-winning goal. The victory keeps the Cougars in the hunt for a top four finish and a home game in the first round of the CACC Tournament. Caldwell currently sits in third place, three points behind Georgian Court and one point behind Holy Family University.
Junior goalkeeper Robin Franchi (Sewell, NJ/Deptford) recorded six saves for her fourth shutout of the season. O'Connor finished with five saves for the Lions.
The first-place Lions host second-place Holy Family University in GCU's regular season finale Tuesday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. on Investors Savings Bank Field. Georgian Court will hold its annual Senior Day festivities prior to kick off.
