Lakewood, N.J.- The Georgian Court University volleyball squad honored two of its own prior to its regular-season finale Saturday afternoon vs. Dominican College as the Lions celebrated the collegiate careers of
Gabriela Berrios-Hernandez and
Jaslene Lopez in a Senior Day pre-game ceremony.
The Lions (17-12, 15-4 CACC) proceeded to sweep the Lady Chargers, 3-0, (25-20, 25-20, 25-14) as GCU (#3-South) now sets its focus on the postseason with a ticket punched for Nyack College (#2-North) Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m. in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) quarterfinals.Â
Dominican College, the 2012 CACC champions, sees its season come to a close with a record of 7-23 (7-12 CACC).
Anabelle Barinas led the Lions with nine kills while
Tatiana Villariny Rodriguez and
Alice Vicente provided eight kills apiece. Lopez distributed 31 assists, leaving her nine short of 1,000 for the season.
Dara Schroeder paced the GCU defense with a team-high 13 digs.
