Georgian Court Holds on For 13-10 Win Over Visiting East Stroudsburg University

LAKEWOOD, N.J. – Georgian Court University lacrosse held on for a 13-10 win over visiting East Stroudsburg University in non-conference action Tuesday afternoon.
Molly McCourt (four), Corinne Coyle (three) and Stephanie Gallo (three) accounted for ten of the Lions' 13 scores. Coyle and Gallo also added two assists. McCourt is now just two tallies away from eclipsing the 100-goal mark in her collegiate career.

ESU's Emily Powell had a career-high four goals and one assist  while junior Nicole Miller scored two goals and the freshman duo of Lauren Nunes and Kaitlynn Wiltraut both had one goal and two assists for the Warriors. Junior Sarah Studdiford and freshman Samantha Weinert also scored for ESU.
ESU took a 7-5 lead with 3:48 left in the first half on a goal by Studdiford, assisted by Nunes, but Georgian Court scored the final three goals of the period for an 8-7 halftime lead.
Coyle scored the first two goals of the second half to put GCU up 10-7, but the Warriors came back with consecutive goals by Powell to make it 10-9 with 20 minutes remaining.
Miller brought the Warriors within 11-10 with 16:07 left after Gallo had scored for Georgian Court a minute earlier, but the Lions scored the final two goals – with 10:36 and 33 seconds left.
Amanda Cathcart had eight saves for Georgian Court (7-5-1) while senior goalkeeper Amanda Simms had seven saves for ESU (1-11).
The Lions return to CACC action Wednesday afternoon with a road contest at Post University. Start time is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
