Lakewood, N.J.- The Georgian Court University lacrosse squad celebrated its senior class prior to Sunday's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest vs. rival Philadelphia University as
Corinne Coyle,
Jennifer Molzon,
Anna Roszel and
Olivia Rotunno suited up for the final regular-season home game of their collegiate careers.
Even though the Lions succumbed to the Lady Rams, 12-10,
Molly McCourt added an additional highlight when the junior netted her 100th career goal in the second half. Georgian Court falls to 8-6-1 (7-3 CACC) with the defeat while Philadelphia University ends the regular season with a perfect 10-0 record vs. conference foes (13-7 overall).
The Lady Rams took immediate control of the contest with a 5-0 lead to start the first half and outscored the Lions, 9-2, over the first 30 minutes of the game.
Liz Mower paced Philadelphia with four of her five goals on the day in the first stanza.
GCU opened the second half with four straight goals to cut the deficit to 9-6. McCourt became the ninth player in GCU lacrosse history to reach 100 career goals when she found the back of the net with 25:04 remaining in the final period.
Philadelphia answered with three consecutive insurance tallies to take what appeared to be a commanding 12-6 advantage with 5:23 remaining in regulation. The Lions mounted a furious comeback with four goals during the final 5:07, but time would eventually run out on the home team.
Coyle led Georgian Court with a team-leading four goals on the afternoon while McCourt and Rotunno netted a pair.
Stephanie Gallo provided a game-high three assists in the effort.
Amanda Cathcart collected seven saves in net for the Lions.
