Lakewood, N.J.- The Georgian Court University volleyball squad made its 2013 home debut Wednesday evening as the Lions downed rival-Holy Family University, 3-2, for a crucial Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) victory in the Wellness Center Arena.
The Lions (3-7, 2-1 CACC) outlasted the Tigers (4-8, 1-2 CACC) 25-22, 23-25, 19-25, 26-24, 15-12.
Anabelle Barinas dominated at the net for GCU with a match-high 22 kills. Teammate
Gabriela Berrios-Hernandez registered a double-double with 17 digs and 10 kills. #Tatiana Villariny Rodriguez added 12 kills of her own.
Francheska Cedres collected 24 digs while
Jaslene Lopez also earned a double-double with 46 assists and 12 digs.
Dara Schroeder provided 11 digs for her own.
Emma Herring (11 kills) and Sarah Ambach (10) were the offensive leaders for Holy Family. Chelsea Keegan distributed 35 assists for the Tigers and Devyn Ingram controlled 22 digs in the five-set affair.
Georgian Court stays in conference for its next contest this Saturday when the LIons travel to Bloomfield College for a noontime match.
